Abstract: Paper presented at 7th Symposium on Physics and Chemistry of Ice, held at Grenoble, France, in 1986. Effective charges of Bjerrum and ionic defects estimated from temperature dependence of dispersion strength of pure ice. From this, and measured conductivity of HCl-doped ice, migration energies of L and H₃O⁺ defects are deduced.
