Record #85581:

Needle-ice activity and the distribution of stem-rosette species in a Venezuelan páramo / Francisco L. Pérez.

Title: Needle-ice activity and the distribution of stem-rosette species in a Venezuelan páramo / Francisco L. Pérez.
Author(s): Pérez, Francisco L.
Date: 1987.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1987.), Vol. 19(2) (1987)
Abstract: Spatial patterns of several species of stem-rosettes and soil disturbance due to growth of needle-ice were studied in Páramo de Piedras Blancas at 4300 m. Some species have prostrate growth and facultative vegetative reproduction, which enable them to colonize areas affected by needle ice. Others became established near rocks, etc., providing protection from needle-ice heave.
Notes:
