| Abstract: | Describes network, first deployed during 1985-86 field season. During 85 h of monitoring on ice stream, 25 microearthquakes were recorded, 16 associated with crevassing near margins and nine with low-angle thrusting near base. Demonstrates that virtually no dissipation of energy takes place through brittle fracture near base, although fracture associated with microearthquakes may play role in subglacial erosion. |
