Abstract: Presents algorithm which uses six channels of scanning multichannel microwave radiometer to estimate fractions of multi- and first-year sea-ice types under variable atmospheric and sea-surface conditions. Channels selected produce six environmental parameters: total ice concentration, multiyear ice fraction, surface temperature, wind speed at ocean surface, integrated atmospheric water vapour, and cloud liquid-water content.
