Abstract: Presents results, evaluating usefulness and limitations of this technique, of examination of present-day soil, together with its continuation beneath the outermost Little Ice Age end moraine of glacier, at location above tree-line in mid-alpine belt of southern Norway. Continuous development of palaeosol over at least 5 ka prior to burial confirms that glacier attained its Neoglacial maximum in period of Little Ice Age.
