Record #84898:

Upwelling at the ice edge: a mechanism for deep water formation? / Sirpa Häkkinen.

Title: Upwelling at the ice edge: a mechanism for deep water formation? / Sirpa Häkkinen.
Author(s): Häkkinen, Sirpa.
Date: 1987.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1987.), Vol. 92(C5) (1987)
Abstract: Hypothesis suggests upwelling can raise thermocline waters (lower Arctic Intermediate Water) to surface where water is exposed to cooling, evaporation, mixing and oxygenation, and can thus act as mechanism for deep convection. Also explains salinity range of Greenland Sea Deep Water and other phenomena.
