Record #84828:

A freeze-thaw test to determine the frost susceptibility of soils / Edwin J. Chamberlain.

Title: A freeze-thaw test to determine the frost susceptibility of soils / Edwin J. Chamberlain.
Author(s): Chamberlain, Edwin J.
Date: 1987.
Publisher: Hanover, NH: US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory
In: CRREL Special Report. (1987.), Vol. 87-1 (1987)
Abstract: Describes new test which replaces standard CRREL test. Reduces time required for determination by 50%. Allows for determination of both frost heave and thaw-weakening susceptibilities, and considers effects of freeze-thaw cycling. Temperature control and data observations are completely automated.
Notes:

CRREL Special Report. Vol. 87-1 :iv, 90 p. (1987).

Keywords: 551.341 -- Permafrost and frozen ground, equipment for investigating.
551.343 -- Periglacial processes. Thermokarst.
E3 -- Glaciology: instruments and methods.
