Abstract: Describes measurements made on St. Patrick Bay ice caps, Ellesmere Island, in summers 1982 and 1983. Significant ice losses observed, averaging -70 to -140 kg m⁻² a⁻¹. Also decreased in area. Equilibrium line has averaged 1150 m for last decade. Ice caps are remnants of former climatic conditions, and are out of phase with present climate.
