Record #84661:

Recurring polynyas over the Cosmonaut Sea and the Maud Rise / Josefino C. Comiso, Arnold L. Gordon.

Title: Recurring polynyas over the Cosmonaut Sea and the Maud Rise / Josefino C. Comiso, Arnold L. Gordon.
Author(s): Comiso, Josefino C.
Gordon, Arnold L.
Date: 1987.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1987.), Vol. 92(C3) (1987)
Abstract: Describes two polynyas over deep ocean observed in Antarctic region during winter 1980. Time history of each was examined on alternate day basis using ice concentration maps from Nimbus-7 scanning multichannel microwave radiometer. Presents relationship of size and location of these polynyas to oceanographic and meteorological data. Possible relationship between them is suggested in that both are in eastern margins of Weddell Sea.
