Record #84659:

Low profile of the northwest Laurentide ice sheet / James E. Beget.

Title: Low profile of the northwest Laurentide ice sheet / James E. Beget.
Author(s): Beget, James E.
Date: 1987.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1987.), Vol. 19(1) (1987)
Abstract: Reconstructed ice profiles from drift limits indicate that two Laurentide glaciations in this region were thin and characterized by low basal shear stresses of 1 to 30 kPa. Probably not frozen to base at 69°N. Rapid retreat rates probably due to low profile of ice sheet, which would melt easily.
Notes:

Arctic and Alpine Research. Vol. 19(1) :81-88 (1987).

Keywords: 551.336 -- Ice ages.
551.79 -- Quaternary.
E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages.
(*41) -- Canada.
SPRI record no.: 84659
