Record #84517:

Folding in the Greenland ice sheet / Ian M. Whillans, Kenneth C. Jezek.

Title: Folding in the Greenland ice sheet / Ian M. Whillans, Kenneth C. Jezek.
Author(s): Whillans, Ian M.
Jezek, Kenneth C.
Date: 1987.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1987.), Vol. 92(B1) (1987)
Abstract: Deformation of layering into folds is modelled for linear viscous medium moving over décollement. Model is applied to folds forming now in Greenland ice sheet near Dye 3. Folds detected by radio reflection sounding, and measured surface deformation and deformation rates are used with radar results to test theory. Calculated fold amplitude is only 20% less than that measured.
