Modelling the response of the West Antarctic ice sheet to a climatic warming / William F. Budd, Barry J. McInnes, D. Jenssen, Ian N. Smith.
Title: | Modelling the response of the West Antarctic ice sheet to a climatic warming / William F. Budd, Barry J. McInnes, D. Jenssen, Ian N. Smith. |
Author(s): | Budd, William F. McInnes, Barry J. Jenssen, D. Smith, Ian N. |
Date: | 1987. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: D. Reidel Publishing Co. |
In: | Dynamics of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet : proceedings of a Workshop held in Utrecht, May 6-8, 1985. (1987.), |
Abstract: | Describes hierarchy of ice-sheet modelling studies covering fast-flowing ice streams, thermal regime of west Antarctic ice sheet, and whole Antarctic at coarser resolution. Range of consequences likely for ice loss and sea-level rise due to climatic warming are computed in detail for next 500 a, and in less detail for several thousand years hence. Concludes that effects for sea-level change could be large but of manageable magnitude and rate of change. |
