Record #84497:
On the flow within the transition zone between ice sheet and ice shelf / K. Herterich.
Title: | On the flow within the transition zone between ice sheet and ice shelf / K. Herterich. |
Author(s): | Herterich, K. |
Date: | 1987. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: D. Reidel Publishing Co. |
In: | Dynamics of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet : proceedings of a Workshop held in Utrecht, May 6-8, 1985. (1987.), |
Abstract: | Horizontal and vertical velocity components within transition zone are computed on plane perpendicular to grounding line. Transition flow found numerically by solving non-linear elliptic differential equation with fixed boundary conditions. Transition zone is located around grounding line and its width is of order of ice thickness. For basal sliding, it can be widened considerably. |
Notes: | In: Dynamics of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet : proceedings of a Workshop held in Utrecht, May 6-8, 1985 / Cornelis J. Van der Veen, Johannes Oerlemans, eds. |
