| Abstract: | Presents data on positions of ice-shelf edges for 1980-84. Allows determination of apparent ice movements for this period, i.e. apparent advance rates and azimuths of alterations in ice-shelf edges during particular time intervals. Apparent areal growth of ice shelves in region can also be assessed, and apparent annual discharge rate can be computed. Results for Filchner, Ronne and Brunt ice shelves amount to apparent calving rates of 60, 91, and 24x10¹² kg a⁻¹, respectively. |
