Abstract: Catenary cable element analysis used to compute shapes and end forces of cables with non-uniform distribution of ice loading. Results show end tension can be used to give as good an evaluation of ice accretion load as any other type of end support measurement. Technique applied successfully to measurement of tension on instrumented cable at site with frequent icing.
