Record #84468:

Statistical and geometrical definition of snow avalanche runout / David M. McClung, K. Lied.

Title: Statistical and geometrical definition of snow avalanche runout / David M. McClung, K. Lied.
Author(s): McClung, David M.
Lied, K.
Date: 1987.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1987.), Vol. 13(2) (1987)
Abstract: Presents and contrasts two mathematical models for calculating extreme avalanche runout from fixed reference point on path. Constructs geometrical model for avalanche terrain. Taken together, these models redefine traditional zoning problem by dividing it into estimation of runout distance and dynamic problem requiring speed estimates along incline between start and stop positions, with geometry specified by geometrical model between these positions.
