Reductions of Antarctic ozone due to synergistic interactions of chlorine and bromine / Michael B. McElroy, Ross J. Salawitch, Steven C. Wofsy, Jennifer A. Logan.

Title: Reductions of Antarctic ozone due to synergistic interactions of chlorine and bromine / Michael B. McElroy, Ross J. Salawitch, Steven C. Wofsy, Jennifer A. Logan.
Author(s): McElroy, Michael B.
Salawitch, Ross J.
Wofsy, Steven C.
Logan, Jennifer A.
Date: 1986.
In: Nature. (1986.), Vol. 321(6072) (1986)
Abstract: Suggests reduction may be due to catalysis of O₃ recombination by scheme in which rate-limiting step is defined by reaction between ClO and BrO giving Cl+BrO +O₂. Concentrations of NO₂ must be low and heterogenous reactions involving particles in polar stratospheric clouds must be important element of relevant chemistry.

Keywords: 551.510.534 -- Ozone layer.
(*7) -- Antarctic regions.
