Record #83333:

Late Quaternary surface fluctuations of Beardmore Glacier, Antarctica / George H. Denton, B.G. Andersen, H.W. Conway.

Title: Late Quaternary surface fluctuations of Beardmore Glacier, Antarctica / George H. Denton, B.G. Andersen, H.W. Conway.

Abstract: Because of its location and adjacent ice-free areas, glacier is particularly well-suited to document ice-sheet behaviour during Late Quaternary. This behaviour can illustrate role of Antarctic ice sheet in global ice ages. During 1985-86 season, glacial drift sheets were mapped to resolve conflicting interpretations of Late Quaternary surface-level changes of glacier. Results support theory that widespread grounding occurred in area of present Ross Ice Shelf and Ross Sea during Late Quaternary.
