Title: Mapping of snow-cover parameters by a spaceborne microwave radiometer / Martti Hallikainen, Petri A. Jolma, Martti Tiuri, Risto Kuittinen.
Author(s): Hallikainen, Martti.
Jolma, Petri A.
Tiuri, Martti.
Kuittinen, Risto.
Date: 1986.
Publisher: Wallingford, Oxfordshire: IAHS Press
In: Hydrologic aspects of space technology. Proceedings of an International Workshop on Hydrologic Applications of Space Technology held in Cocoa Beach, Florida, USA, 19-23 August 1985. (1986.),
Abstract: Algorithms have been developed to retrieve snow-water equivalent from information obtained by satellite microwave radiometers. Based on microwave response to snow-water equivalent, three distinct catagories can be observed: early and mid-winter, spring (melt-freeze period), and melting period. Variations in annual snow conditions may change response for each class.
