| Abstract: | Discusses importance of snow water equivalent in models for forecasting daily and seasonal meltwater runoff from mountain basins, which are based on remote sensing of snow-covered area. Introduces flexible parametric model for areal distribution of snow water equivalent and way this function varies with snow-covered area daily and seasonally. Shows how, at daily time scale, snow water equivalent may be estimated adaptively without need for remote sensing. |
