Bearing capacity calculations for piles in permafrost / V.R. Parameswaran.
Title: | Bearing capacity calculations for piles in permafrost / V.R. Parameswaran. |
Author(s): | Parameswaran, V. R. |
Date: | 1986. |
Publisher: | New York: American Society of Civil Engineers |
In: | Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference..., Anchorage, Alaska, February 24-26, 1986. (1986.), |
Abstract: | Results of short-term, rate-controlled tests and longer-term, constant-load creep tests show that lowest value of allowable stress at pile-soil interface is obtained from creep tests that consider time to failure (before onset of tertiary creep). This method (suggested by Vyalov) yields lowest values of allowable stress at pile-soil interface, and is thus safe estimate of long-term bearing capacity of piles in permafrost. |
Notes: | In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference..., Anchorage, Alaska, February 24-26, 1986 / William L. Ryan, ed. |
Keywords: | 624.139.2 -- Frozen ground, effects. 624.15 -- Foundations. E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering. |
