Record #81933:

Ice forces on multi-legged structures / G.W. Timco.

Title: Ice forces on multi-legged structures / G.W. Timco.
Author(s): Timco, G. W.
Date: 1986.
Publisher: Iowa City, IA: University of Iowa, Institute of Hydraulic Research
In: 8th International Symposium on Ice, Iowa City, August 18-22, 1986. (1986.), Vol. 2.
Abstract: Reviews types and origins of forces by assuming typical (multi-legged) platform design and ice conditions, and calculating ice forces and ice behaviour (failure mode) for this situation. Results of model tests are reviewed to give insight into interaction and influence of multiple legs on total force on structure. Presents brief annotated list of reported results of ice interacting with full-scale platforms and bridge piers.
Notes:

In: 8th International Symposium on Ice, Iowa City, August 18-22, 1986. Vol. 2. / International Association For Hydraulic Research.

Keywords: 624.145.1 -- Floating ice, thrust.
622.24 -- Drilling and boring.
624.16 -- Abutments and piers.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
