Abstract: Investigation of economic, social, and environmental impacts of extending winter operation of locks on St. Marys River at Sault Ste. Marie, MI, by one month (to end of January). Navigation would then continue in ice, subject to need and capability of vessels. Discusses possibility of adverse effects to plants, animals, shores, and shore structures, and suggests that these would be relatively insignificant.
