Record #81581:

A preliminary study of scale effect on flexural strength of ice specimen / S. Tozawa, Y. Taguchi.

Title: A preliminary study of scale effect on flexural strength of ice specimen / S. Tozawa, Y. Taguchi.
Author(s): Tozawa, S.
Taguchi, Y.
Date: 1986.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the Fifth International Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering (OMAE) Symposium, presented ... Tokyo, Japan, April 13-18, 1986. Vol. 4. (1986.),
Abstract: Probabilistic method based on Weibull model was applied. In order to examine validity of model, three-point bending tests were conducted on differently-sized fresh-water ice specimens. Mean strength agreed well with predicted value; on basis of these results, Weibull model was found to be useful method for evaluating scale effect on fracture strength of ice specimens.
