| Abstract: | Presents results from first winter, 1985-86, of operation of Polar Pioneer, first rig designed for year-round drilling in Arctic waters. Durability of de- and anti-icing systems were confirmed by trouble-free operation, heat-loss design was confirmed by temperature and wind-speed measurements, and approval situation was clarified to some extent. |
