| Abstract: | Sea-ice surface condition and concentration near Lützow-Holm Bay inferred from imagery obtained from advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) mounted on NOAA-7 polar-orbiting satellite. AVHRR data have advantage of frequent acquisition and much higher resolution than microwave data. This new method takes into account variation of albedo of ice surface and can derive another indicator of ice surface condition, termed "fractional coverage of snow". |
