Record #80246:
Persistence of soil moisture changes resulting from artificially extended snowmelt / Lee Harold MacDonald.
Title: | Persistence of soil moisture changes resulting from artificially extended snowmelt / Lee Harold MacDonald. |
Author(s): | MacDonald, Lee Harold. |
Date: | 1986. |
Publisher: | Spokane, WA: Western Snow Conference |
In: | Western Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1986.), Vol. 54 (1986) |
Abstract: | Cloud seeding and snowpack management in forested areas of Sierra Nevada Mountains, California, have increased snow and runoff. Field tests carried out to examine changes in soil moisture indicated that differences may persist for several weeks and this effect may extend downslope. Suggests physical basis for claiming increase in mid- and late-summer streamflow. |
Notes: | Western Snow Conference. Proceedings. Vol. 54 :146-149 (1986). |
Keywords: | 551.579.2 -- Water supply from snow. 556 -- Hydrology. 551.579.5 -- Soil moisture, percolation. E11 -- Glaciology: glaciohydrology. (79) -- Pacific states. |
