Record #80233:
Snow fencing to increase streamflow: preliminary results / David L. Sturges.
Title: | Snow fencing to increase streamflow: preliminary results / David L. Sturges. |
Author(s): | Sturges, David L. |
Date: | 1986. |
Publisher: | Spokane, WA: Western Snow Conference |
In: | Western Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1986.), Vol. 54 (1986) |
Abstract: | Discusses results from paired watershed study in which large snow fence was placed on sagebrush-covered watershed to trap drifting snow and increase water yield. Streamflow and sediment transport characteristics were measured 10 years preceding fence installation and specific conductance of water measured for 2 years. Results reported for first 2 years after fence construction. |
Notes: | Western Snow Conference. Proceedings. Vol. 54 :18-29 (1986). |
Keywords: | 624.144.4 -- Snow drifting, control. 556 -- Hydrology. 551.579.2 -- Water supply from snow. E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering. |
