Scale effect and compressive strength of large volumes of ice / E.M. Gershunov.
Title: | Scale effect and compressive strength of large volumes of ice / E.M. Gershunov. |
Author(s): | Gershunov, E. M. |
Date: | 1986. |
Publisher: | Richardson, Texas: Offshore Technology Conference |
Abstract: | Paper presented at conference in Houston, Texas, 5-8 May 1986. Statistical theory of brittle failure used to describe scale effect in ice which is believed to be responsible for observed reduction in ice loads when they are caused by compressive failure of large volumes of ice and is directly involved in evaluating global ice loads and local ice pressure, used as governing design criteria for ice-resistant offshore structures in Arctic. |
Notes: | Offprint: Eighteenth Annual Offshore Technology Conference; 1986 proceedings. Vol. 1. |
