| Abstract: | Studied in Fram Strait in 1983 as pilot for main programme in 1984. Active marginal ice found close to ice edge, which was 1-2 km wide and had fine structure. Behaviour of marginal ice different along ice edge. Suggests one-dimensional analysis and related measurements should be abandoned. If strain-rate has to be measured, time interval of readings must be short. |
