Record #79310:

Evaluation of a freezing spray forecast system / K.A. Macdonald, R.G. Jessup.

Title: Evaluation of a freezing spray forecast system / K.A. Macdonald, R.G. Jessup.
Author(s): Macdonald, K. A.
Jessup, R. G.
Date: [1986]
Publisher: Downsview, Ontario: Environment Canada, Atmospheric Environment Service
In: Proceedings; International Workshop on Offshore Winds and Icing; Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 7-11, 1985. ([1986]),
Abstract: Describes system for forecasting rate of accretion caused by freezing sea spray based on model of L.G. Kachurin and others,Meteorologiya i Gidrologiya, 1974, No.3, p.50-60, which relates rate of ice accretion to air and water temperatures, wind velocity, wave height, and water salinity. Using analyzed and forecast values of these parameters, system can produce forecasts for up to 36 h for entire Canadian Arctic and east coast waters.
Notes:

In: Proceedings; International Workshop on Offshore Winds and Icing; Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 7-11, 1985 / Thomas A. Agnew, V.R. Swail, eds.

Keywords: 624.142 -- Low temperature effects.
551.509.58 -- Weather forecasting, icing conditions.
E9 -- Glaciology: meteorology and climatology.
(*62) -- Canadian Arctic waters.
(*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters.
