Effects of snow cover and tropical forcing on mid-latitude monthly mean circulation / Alan Robock, JAMES W. Tauss.

Title: Effects of snow cover and tropical forcing on mid-latitude monthly mean circulation / Alan Robock, JAMES W. Tauss.
Author(s): Robock, Alan.
Tauss, JAMES W.
Date: 1986.
Publisher: Boulder, CO: University of Colorado, Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, World Data Center A for Glaciology
In: Glaciological Data. (1986.), Report GD-18 (1986)
Abstract: Paper presented at workshop, Snow Watch '85, on snow cover and its role in climate system, specifically as related to potential effects of CO₂-induced climatic changes, held October 1985 at University of Maryland. Effect of anomalous snow cover has long been studied as having pronounced influence on temperature of overlying atmosphere, but there are few reports describing incorporation of such forcing into climate model to investigate anomalous atmospheric response. Purpose of this paper is to study effects of such anomalous forcings when imposed on monthly mean basic state using simple, linear, steady-state climate model.
