Record #78982:
Reliability of a fjord glacier's fluctuations for paleoclimatic reconstructions / Daniel H. Mann.
Title: | Reliability of a fjord glacier's fluctuations for paleoclimatic reconstructions / Daniel H. Mann. |
Author(s): | Mann, Daniel H. |
Date: | 1986. |
In: | Quaternary Research. (1986.), Vol. 25(1) (1986) |
Abstract: | Studies of glaciers of Lituya Bay system, south-east Alaska. Suggests that preference should always be given to deposits left by totally land-based glaciers when reconstructing palaeoclimate. Fjord glaciers most susceptible to anomalous responses to climate occur in fjords of complex geometry, in regions of relatively low snow line, and where glaciers terminate at fjord mouths bordering open sea. |
Notes: | Quaternary Research. Vol. 25(1) :10-24 (1986). |
