Record #78892:
Weddell-Scotia sea marginal ice zone observations from space, October 1984 / Frank D. Carsey, and 6 others.
Title: | Weddell-Scotia sea marginal ice zone observations from space, October 1984 / Frank D. Carsey, and 6 others. |
Author(s): | Carsey, Frank D. |
Date: | 1986. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1986.), Vol. 91(C3) (1986) |
Abstract: | Interprets imagery from shuttle imaging radar-B experiment and other satellite and meteorological data. At ice edge, ice forms into bandlike aggregates of small ice floes, possibly with wet upper surfaces. Radar imagery shows transition to large floes further into pack, and, in open sea, large icebergs and long surface gravity waves are discernible. Compares observations with those from Bering Sea. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 91(C3) :3920-3924 (1986). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.326 -- Floating ice. 551.326.1 -- Floating ice, distribution and movement. 551.326.3 -- Floating ice, structure and surface features. E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice. (*80) -- Southern Ocean. (*824) -- Scotia Sea. (*826) -- Weddell Sea. (*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters. (*662) -- Bering Sea and Strait. |
