Abstract: Itkonen was priest, author, teacher, scientist, historian and translator. He was man of both ideas and action, sociologist with interests reaching to hills and all over Oulu County, to Inari, Kemi area and northern Tornio. Article describes his life, as Lapland man, intelligent, friend of Carl Mannerheim, author of alphabet and hymnbook in Saami and much else, head of Inari school, intellectual kinship with Tuderus, Jacob Fellman ("Agricola" of Finnish Saami), and Castrén. Life spanned 1894-1984. He left a couple of old boxes.
