Record #77832:

Bearing behaviour of frost shells in the construction of tunnels / Helmut Meissner.

Title: Bearing behaviour of frost shells in the construction of tunnels / Helmut Meissner.
Author(s): Meissner, Helmut.
Date: 1985.
Publisher: Sapporo: Hokkaido University Press
In: Proceedings of the Fourth International Symposium on Ground Freezing/Sapporo/5-7 August 1985. Ground freezing. Volume two. (1985.),
Abstract: Predictions of bearing behaviour for frozen tunnel walls are performed using finite element method. Soil behaviour is modelled by using elastic viscoplastic material law for frozen soil as well as elastoplastic law for unfrozen soil. Numerical results obtained from parametric studies are described by dimensionless relations. Consequently, tunnel displacements may be predicted in dependence on freezing temperature, thickness of frozen wall, and time. Points out practical conclusions.
