Abstract: Tests carried out to isolate main force components on inclined offshore structures in Arctic (flexural and crushing behaviour of ice, rotation and translation of broken ice, gravity and buoyancy in lifting ice, friction between ice and structure) and analytical expressions derived for them. Measured and predicted components compared well, analytical model over-predicting by 20%.
