Offshore permafrost well design lateral soil movement-induced bending strains / S.W. Laut, M.T. Bradshaw.
Title: | Offshore permafrost well design lateral soil movement-induced bending strains / S.W. Laut, M.T. Bradshaw. |
Author(s): | Laut, S. W. Bradshaw, M. T. |
Date: | 1985. |
Publisher: | New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers |
In: | Proceedings of the Fourth International Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering Symposium, presented at Energy-Sources Technology & Exhibition, Dallas, Texas, February 17-21, 1985. (1985.), Vol. 2. |
Abstract: | Computer program LATPILE used to determine bending strains induced in oil well casing subjected to free-field displacement of thawed permafrost. Parametric studies undertaken to determine effect of varying soil properties and well casing rigidity for given free-field displacement. Results show well casing strains to be lower than first predicted as casing does not move exactly with soil. |
