Motion and structural response of a hydroelastic semisubmersible model to waves and ice impacts / H. El-Tahan, M. Arockiasamy, A.S.J. Swamidas.
Title: | Motion and structural response of a hydroelastic semisubmersible model to waves and ice impacts / H. El-Tahan, M. Arockiasamy, A.S.J. Swamidas. |
Author(s): | El-Tahan, H. Arockiasamy, M. Swamidas, A. S. J. |
Date: | 1985. |
Publisher: | New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers |
In: | Proceedings of the Fourth International Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering Symposium, presented at Energy-Sources Technology & Exhibition, Dallas, Texas, February 17-21, 1985. (1985.), Vol. 1. |
Abstract: | Model can be used to study structural responses due to unconventional loadings (collision with boats or bergy bits) and in conditions difficult to study with numerical models (heavy listing or damaged condition). Results showed significant amount of energy could be absorbed by structural vibrations, rig motion, and bergy-bit rebound. |
