Record #74831:

Spring meltwater mixing in small Arctic lakes / Martin A. Bergmann, Harold E. Welch.

Title: Spring meltwater mixing in small Arctic lakes / Martin A. Bergmann, Harold E. Welch.
Author(s): Bergmann, Martin A.
Welch, Harold E.
Date: 1985.
In: Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. (1985.), Vol. 42(11) (1985)
Abstract: Studied at Saqvaqjuac, Keewatin. N.W.T., Canada, in 1980 and 1981 to evaluate applicability of theoretical lake water renewal times to modelling of ice-covered lakes. Results imply that lake models incorporating term for flushing rate need to be re-evaluated to accommodate lack of meltwater mixing beneath spring ice, and more attention should be given to early spring meltwater chemistry and its distribution within upper strata of lake.
