Record #74774:

Studies on crescentic fractures and crescentic gouges with the help of close-range photogrammetry / Theodor Wintges.

Title: Studies on crescentic fractures and crescentic gouges with the help of close-range photogrammetry / Theodor Wintges.
Author(s): Wintges, Theodor.
Date: 1985.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1985.), Vol. 31(109) (1985)
Abstract: Test sites in pro-glacial area of Hornkees, Tyrol, Austria. First time it has been possible to photograph and analyze quantitatively 12000 of these features. With these results and those from 5500 mapped striae, ice-flow characteristics for late- and post-glacial ice flow can be deduced. Correlation found between length of crescentic fractures and gouges and ice thickness during late- and post-glacial periods.
Notes:

Journal of Glaciology. Vol. 31(109) :340-349 (1985).

Keywords: 551.331.56 -- Friction cracks in rock from glacial action.
551.331.55 -- Rock, polished, grooved and striated by glacial action.
E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages.
(436) -- Austria.
