Abstract: Field study, summer 1982, in order to determine limit of last glaciation in Newman Bay and Petermann Fjord, and nature of relative sea-level curve and tilting of Holocene shorelines. Concludes there was no ice ridge in Nares Strait, ice retreat of only 40 to 60 km can cause 140 to 150 m of emergence, and deglaciation of north-west Greenland began at 8 (not 10) ka BP. Confirms that relative sea-level curves from adjacent coast of Ellesmere Island were isostatically dominated by Greenland ice sheet.
