Stress-relieving techniques for cantilever beam tests in an ice cover / Robert M.W. Frederking, O.J. Svec.
Title: | Stress-relieving techniques for cantilever beam tests in an ice cover / Robert M.W. Frederking, O.J. Svec. |
Author(s): | Frederking, Robert M. W. Svec, O. J. |
Date: | 1985. |
In: | Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1985.), Vol. 11(3) (1985) |
Abstract: | Tests carried out on freshwater ice showed that introducing holes for stress relief at root of beam increased flexural strength, as determined from simple beam theory, by quarter to third, compared to conventional cantilever beams. Discusses implications. |
Notes: | Cold Regions Science and Technology. Vol. 11(3) :247-253 (1985). |
Keywords: | 624.145.5 -- Floating ice, bearing strength. E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice. |
