Record #73831:
Short-term velocity measurements at Columbia Glacier, Alaska: August-September 1984 / Bruce H. Vaughn, and 9 others.
Title: | Short-term velocity measurements at Columbia Glacier, Alaska: August-September 1984 / Bruce H. Vaughn, and 9 others. |
Author(s): | Vaughn, Bruce H. |
Date: | 1985. |
Publisher: | Tacoma, Washington: U.S. Department of the Interior. Geological Survey |
Abstract: | Measurements made to investigate dynamics of glacier in south-central Alaska and to provide input to models for estimation of future retreat and iceberg discharge. Ice velocity ranged from 8 to >=15 m d⁻¹. Flyer includes information that, as rate of iceberg calving is so great, amounting to 15 m d⁻¹, glacier is retreating at rate of 6 m d⁻¹. |
