Abstract: Field experiment using snowmobile as moving load, with test speed from 0 to 14.2 m s⁻¹. Thickness of ice sheet 0.17 to 0.18 m, temperature of ice -2.5 to -4°C, water depth 6.8 m. Critical speed appeared to be 5.8 m s⁻¹, above which two ice waves were generated ahead of and behind vehicle.
