Title: | Theory of wind-driven coastal polynyas / Carol H. Pease. |
Author(s): | Pease, Carol H. |
Date: | 1985. |
Publisher: | Hanover, New Hampshire: U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory |
In: | CRREL Special Report. (1985.), Vol. 85-6 (1985) |
Abstract: | Develops work of Lebedev (1968) who postulated that wind-generated polynyas attain maximum size if air and water are cold enough to produce ice. Measurements made February 1983 over polynya near St Lawrence Island, Bering Sea. Process depends largely on rate of frazil production. |
