Fluctuations of flow through Bering Strait / J.D. Schumacher, A.T. Roach, K. Aagaard.
Title: | Fluctuations of flow through Bering Strait / J.D. Schumacher, A.T. Roach, K. Aagaard. |
Author(s): | Schumacher, J. D. Roach, A. T. Aagaard, K. |
Date: | 1985. |
Publisher: | Hanover, New Hampshire: U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory |
In: | CRREL Special Report. (1985.), Vol. 85-6 (1985) |
Abstract: | Summarizes recent analysis of current, bottom pressure and geostrophic wind which shows that about 2/3 of variance of flow in strait is accounted for by meridional geostrophic wind. Relation has been established between transport across central Chukchi Sea and flow through eastern channel of Bering Sea. Thus, reasonable estimates of transport estimated from 37 years of geostrophic wind by means of strong correlation with that flow. |
Notes: | CRREL Special Report. Vol. 85-6 :105-111 (1985). MIZEX Bulletin Series. |
Keywords: | 551.465 -- Oceanography, dynamics. C -- Oceanography, hydrography and hydrology. (*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters. (*662) -- Bering Sea and Strait. |
