Record #73445:

Sea ice: multiyear cycles and white ice / Tamara Shapiro Ledley.

Title: Sea ice: multiyear cycles and white ice / Tamara Shapiro Ledley.
Author(s): Ledley, Tamara Shapiro.
Date: 1985.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1985.), Vol. 90(D3) (1985)
Abstract: Results show that insulating effect of snow on surface of sea ice is important in producing multiyear cycles in sea-ice thickness. Timing of refreezing of new ice at end of ice-free summer season and vertical ocean flux also affect length and character of cycles. Inclusion of formation of white ice in model reduces ability to produce multiyear cycles.
