System development for measurement of full scale ship ice impact forces / G. Abdel M. Ghoneim, M.H. Edgecombe, J. Grinstead.

Title: System development for measurement of full scale ship ice impact forces / G. Abdel M. Ghoneim, M.H. Edgecombe, J. Grinstead.
Author(s): Ghoneim, G. Abdel M.
Edgecombe, M. H.
Grinstead, J.
Date: [1984]
Publisher: [New York]: [Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Arctic Section]
In: Ice Tech '84. Third International Conference on Icebreaking & Related Technologies, Calgary, May 1984. ([1984]), [1].
Abstract: Describes new system for estimating global ice forces and measuring corresponding structural response of icebreaking vessels during ramming operations in heavy first- and multiyear ice. Has been implemented successfully on two icebreakers and can be applied to other vessels provided that stiffness of bow is adequate. Discussion in supplementary volume, p.K1-K5.
