Abstract: | Olsen came to Greenland in 1926 to set up magnetic observatory, and on next tour felt he had "come home", in love with both land and people. His assistant Ole Mølgaard learnt Danish and was extremely accurate with data. Memories include Daugaard-Jensen, thrifty, one who knew Greenland through and through, and much respected. Poverty and TB were common. He describes how his children fitted in with Greenlanders, meetings with Rasmussen and Wegener and cruise up East Greenland. |
